Nine engineering teams with a total of over 70 participants have been competing in the Energy Hack NL – Smart Energy Hackathon which took place from 25th to 27th of May in the city of Den Bosch in The Netherlands.
The teams, in just 48 hours, were developing innovative prototypes that answer the challenge: how to achieve a 100% sustainable, reliable and affordable energy provision in the Netherlands.
In the competition the teams made use of exclusively offered (realtime) data and technologies. Three of the teams included HOLISDER-relevant technology in their solution in the form of TNO’s Energy Flexibility Interface (EFI). Apart from the participants there were around 30 persons in crews, jury, supporting experts and visitors from industry, utility companies, the public sector and the general public. The HOLISDER project provided one of the supporting experts.
A hackathon is a place where complementary teams, with expertise in e.g. software development, data science, innovation, marketing and design, create a working prototype or a so called ‘proof of concept’.
