This public webinar will briefly present various results from 14 European-funded projects, including Holisder project, each focused on a unique aspect of the energy transition both at building and community levels.
The recast of the European Union Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), for which the 28 Member States have until June 2021 to transpose into national law, defines “Renewable Energy Communities” (RECs), introduces a governance model for them and the possibility of energy sharing within the REC, and provides an “enabling framework” to put RECs on equal footing with other market players for promoting and facilitating their development [J. Lowitzsch et al.]. One of the cornerstones of RECs is the ability to utilise their available energy flexibility in demand response programs. 14 EU projects will present their innovative solution sets behind this emerging, cross-cutting, and interdisciplinary market opportunity.
