The Finnish pilot site consists of three diverse types of buildings, namely:
- Office building (Itälahdenkatu 22A, located in Helsinki)
- Residential building (Väinö Auerin katu 13, located in Helsinki)
- Shopping center (Willa, located in Hyvinkää)
The buildings are equipped in their majority with occupancy, temperature, humidity, VOC sensors and smart meters/sub-meters and actuators that will be further utilized in the HOLISDER project. Procurement and installation of additional equipment and sensors that will ensure smooth operation of the HOLISDER framework (JACE product, hardware gateway to accommodate EF-i platform, sub-meters for electricity, temperature, humidity, luminance sensors and actuators) will be completed in the next few upcoming months.
CAVERION is responsible for the realization of the Finnish pilot roll-out. The buildings are controlled (heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, electric heaters etc.) through a commercial BEMS operated by CAVERION that is connected with a variety of sensors for temperature, humidity and CO2 measurements. The information regarding to electricity, district heating and water consumptions are currently being gathered in order to define the one year baseline. Afterwards, this information is used for validating the impact of HOLISDER demand response optimization framework in the Finnish pilot site.
In addition, CAVERION has conducted a research in which electrical loads of the buildings are categorized based on the type of control (manually/automatically controllable) and the use of purpose. This research was conducted for estimating the potential of demand response flexibility in the buildings, but also to offer an increased comprehension of the capabilities of the buildings for participating in various demand response schemes. These results are shown in the tables below:
